Resident Engineer

Your new role

As our new Resident Engineer, you will engage in various levels of complexity construction related projects which will require the application of standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related construction/engineering tasks. You must be capable of collaborating and making evaluations and interpretations, exercising independent judgment selecting and applying standard engineering/construction techniques, procedures, and criteria to make design adaptations and modifications.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Utilizing knowledge acquitted in obtaining engineering or construction management degree to analyze the engineering concepts of a project.
  • Overseeing construction personnel to ensure construction procedures, methods and materials follow those specified in the contract documents. Directing Construction Superintendents, Project Managers, Foreman, etc. to comply with contract documents throughout the duration of a project.
  • Utilizing knowledge of technical components of a project to ensure those components meet the engineering requirements of the contract documents.
  • Performing engineering calculations throughout the duration of the project to determine such requirements as pump performance, mechanics of concrete, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
  • Preparing cash flow calculations from a critical path schedule and schedule of values in order for the project owner to budget total project cost and to monitor contractors progress and scheduled completion.
Your new team

You will be part of the Water US, Construction Management Division with a focus on supporting the delivery of Ramboll's municipal water construction projects. This position can support work in 3 of our major areas: Mid‑Atlantic, New York City, and the Northeast.

In addition, there are 3 levels of Resident Engineers, based on experience and qualifications.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • -or-
  • Associate's degree or technical school certification in science, math, architecture, computing, technical drafting or other relevant technical curriculum, and 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience working in the engineering/design field.
  • Ability to make decisions affecting the cost and performance of the work.

Additional skills, certifications, and qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:

  • Advanced degree.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Municipal and State Agency experience.
  • CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, NICET certifications.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $72,000 - $126,000 annually and does not include bonuses, overtime or other forms of compensation or benefits. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
