Job summary

Concordia University Irvine's Resident Director role supports the Residential Education and Services team in developing a strong housing community and promoting student success across academics, wellness, leadership, and diversity. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

The role includes on-call coverage, RA hiring, event coordination, policy enforcement, and collaboration with campus partners to uphold the university mission.

Qualifications

• 2 years of post-college experience in higher education programming is required.
• Experience with StarRez software is desirable.
• Bachelor's degree or higher required; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage Housing Exceptions, including forms, meetings, decision letters, and communication.
• Manage Residential dorm closedowns process, including forms.
• Distribute all housing fines, judicial fines, & closedown fines in Banner system.
• Set up Resident Assistant hiring.
• Set up Summer Resident Assistant hiring.
• Point person for all RES Life “Involvement Fair” opportunities.
• Manage & maintain Housing Handbook updates.
• Manage and help create “All RES” events, such as: Deck the Halls; Battle of the HALLidays (Thanksgiving); Spring BBQ; Valentine’s event.
• Support Commuter Outreach initiatives in partnership with the CS...
• Provide daytime, evening and weekend on-call coverage, including holidays, for emergency response to residence hall incidents in rotation with other Resident Directors.
• Interpret and apply University and Residential Education and Services policies.
• Serve as one of the student conduct hearing officers for the department.
• Hold RA’s accountable for health and safety room checks and daily duty rounds.
• Assist with Housing Services needs, including move-in/move-out prep and requests.
• Be part of the student life team and help coordinate student life events and new initiatives.
• Intervene and counsel residents on behavioral, emotional, health, and safety issues and refer appropriately.
• Intervene, counsel, and advise students in personal conflicts.
• Serve as contact/mediator for roommate conflicts and contract changes.
• Counsel individuals and/or groups regarding needs and university policy.
• Participate in meetings and committees; other duties as assigned.
