Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience and/or knowledge of meal preparation for large groups.
• Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at one time and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner for residents.
• Must enjoy working with the elderly and all who associate with them; interact with residents who may be highly susceptible to illness.
• Must maintain a professional appearance and a positive attitude and treat residents with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves meals for assigned shifts in appropriate portions, including raw food, staples, and proper serving sizes.
• Maintains sanitation standards required by licenses and regulations; cleans work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Rotates inventories by date and notifies supervisor when supplies are needed.
• Stores food and checks supplies on delivery in absence of the Food Service Director.
• Encourages feedback from residents, guests, and staff to improve food quality and service.
• Supports other departments as part of the team to improve resident satisfaction.
• Provides clear communication to all involved in resident services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
