Job summary

Aaron Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chester, CT is seeking a part-time Cook to join our dietary team. You will prepare and serve nutritious, resident-centered meals per planned menus and dietary needs, while maintaining food safety standards and a clean kitchen environment.

This 32-hour weekly position offers weekend and evening shifts, paid training, and opportunities for advancement within a family-owned facility focused on compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent).
• Previous cook experience, preferably in healthcare or long-term care.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and dietary instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality meals.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and teamwork.
• Stamina to stand long hours and lift moderate weights.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious meals according to approved menus and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure correct preparation of therapeutic di ets and special diets as required.
• Inspect meals and trays for portion control and presentation.
• Assist with tray setup and meal service, delivering trays and providing utensils.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment and sanitize equipment.
• Store and handle food to meet safety standards.
• Monitor inventory and assist with stock and kitchen maintenance.
• Collaborate with dietary staff, nursing team, and residents to address needs.
• Prepare substitute foods as directed for residents who refuse items.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
