About Hope Is Alive

Hope Is Alive Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit recovery organization dedicated to transforming lives through Jesus Christ. Founded on the belief that lasting recovery is possible, HIA operates across six states — Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Texas, and North Carolina — serving individuals and families affected by addiction through residential recovery programs, community outreach, and discipleship.

Every member of the HIA team is called to embody the organization's mission and values as both a professional and a servant leader.

Position Summary

The Resident Care Specialist (Day) fulfills a unique role in the support and recovery of Healing Center residents, working alongside individuals in recovery to build rapport and relationships, offer emotional encouragement and practical assistance, and serve as a liaison with the clinical team. This role focuses on residents' general welfare and daily support at the residence and does not lead teaching classes or the 45 day program curriculum.

Ministry Alignment
  • Simply being present with residents through daily life, meals, rounds, and quiet moments communicates the same care and dignity HIA wants every resident to experience.
  • Serving as a steady, trustworthy presence during the day gives residents the safety and stability they need to do the deeper work of recovery.
  • This role requires the same compassion and composure HIA expects in every crisis moment, since a resident's hardest hour can happen on any shift.
Key Responsibilities

The following are the primary duties and responsibilities of this position. This list is not exhaustive and may be adjusted to support organizational needs.

Primary Duties
  • Build rapport and relationships with residents, offering emotional encouragement and practical assistance throughout their stay
  • Spend individual time with each assigned resident daily, supporting them in attaining their treatment goals
  • Make resident rounds, room checks, safety checks, and supervision checks as prescribed by unit policy and resident needs
  • Provide day-time supervision of residents, including problem solving and crisis intervention as needed, and perform proper protocol in emergency situations
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with the admission and intake process under the supervision of administration or clinical staff, and ensure orientation of new residents upon admission
  • Assist residents with assigned schedules, therapy groups, recreation, and community outings
  • Meet weekly with the clinical team to discuss resident care, progress, and observations
  • Inform the therapist through daily check-ins on resident needs, maintain appropriate documentation in the resident record, and participate in staff meetings and trainings
  • Support the clinical team's treatment and discharge planning process by providing observations and completing requested documentation
  • Serve as a liaison with community volunteers and community support groups that occur at The Healing Center
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and upkeep of the facility, performing minor maintenance and cleanup duties as necessary
  • Complete the daily Day Supervisor checklist, including conducting tours, attending staff meetings, overseeing the on-call phone, preparing the sound system, assisting with registration at the beginning of shift, greeting late arrivals, and preparation work for opening and closing
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to residents, continuously striving to improve the resident experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned
