Job summary

Midwest Health is seeking a Direct Care Worker (meds) to provide direct care to community residents, focusing on activities of daily living and medication administration. The role includes assisting with housekeeping, laundry, mealtime service, and other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Responsibilities include helping residents with mobility, bathing, dressing, vital signs, meals, and documenting care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents in and out of bed and into wheelchair according to procedure, possibly with gait belt assistance.
• Assist residents in bathing, dressing or undressing, and provide peri care as needed.
• Take and record vital signs according to schedule and policies.
• Assist residents to dining area for meals and help with feeding as needed.
• Maintain med room clean and orderly; pass medications according to physician orders and community policies.
• Provide housekeeping/cleaning services for resident and common areas; laundry and linen services.
• Notify RN for medications needing refills; document and report information prior to leaving shift.
• Provide simple dressing changes to wounds and monitor residents’ rights.
• Maintain a clean, organized med cart; complete shift reports on resident status.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment and ensure compliance with safety, infection control and fire safety policies.
• Be available to work rotating weekends and holidays.
