Job summary

Covenant Retirement Communities & Covenant Care seeks a diligent Housekeeper to provide campus cleaning and light maintenance across living areas and common spaces. The role supports residents and staff by maintaining high cleanliness standards and assisting with minor repairs and linen tasks.

The ideal candidate has some housekeeping or maintenance experience, strong English communication, dependability, and the ability to work with older adults.

Qualifications

• Some high school education.
• Housekeeping and/or general maintenance experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbal and written, with residents and staff.
• Dependability and common sense, and the ability to organize daily cleaning schedule to finish each day’s assignment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work within standard policy and procedures, with limited direct supervision.
• An interest in and desire to work with older adults is desired.
• May require availability on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedule and standards.
• Complete minor maintenance including light bulbs, plunging toilets and replace batteries as needed.
• Maintain floors with sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, and more as scheduled.
• Assist in cleaning emergency spills and perform project cleaning (walls, ceilings, vents, fixtures, windows).
• Remove trash and recyclables; replace liners and transport to dumpster areas.
• Deep clean rooms/units during transfers or discharges per standards.
• Move furniture as needed and assist in resident moves.
• Participate in campus linen program; distribute, collect and prepare for pick-up.
• Make beds in guest rooms or residences as needed.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and report repairs as appropriate.
• Observe and report needs for repairs to facilities, furniture or fixtures.
• Receive campus supplies and assist with deliveries; participate in snow and ice salting.
