Compensation Range
The base pay scale for this position is $65,000.00 - $65,000.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
What You Will Be Doing
HSS/St. John’s University Athletic Training Resident
Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City is a world-renowned medical center specializing in orthopedic surgery and consistently ranked among the top institutions for musculoskeletal health. HSS serves as the official team medical provider for St. John’s University, a Roman Catholic University in Queens, NY. St. John's is home to 17 NCAA Division 1sports teams competing in the Big East Conference, with its Sports Medicine Department responsible for the care of over 300 student-athletes. As part of this partnership, we are seeking three Certified Athletic Trainers for a residency position during the 2025-2026 academic year.
This 12-month unaccredited Athletic Training Residency combines 9 months of hands-on clinical experience with St. John’s University Sports Medicine and 3 months of immersive education training with HSS Rehabilitation & Performance. The residency is designed to prepare the resident for on and off field injury management, improved clinical decision making in high pressure situations, advanced knowledge in non-operative and post-operative management of athletes, and improved communication skills with the medical team, athletes and families, coaches, and other athletic department staff associated directly with team. While at St. John’s the resident reports to the Supervising Athletic Trainer and the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Wellness; during the HSS rotation, they report to the Director of Sports Rehabilitation Programming.
