Purpose of Your Job Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, as directed by your supervisors.

Delegation of Authority

As a resident assistant, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Education

Must have a minimum of a 10th Grade education.

Experience

Preferably licensed as a Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws.

Specific Requirements

1. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
2. Must be a supportive team member, contribute to, and exemplify teamwork and the team concept.
3. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
4. Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
5. Must work harmoniously with other personnel and have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents.
6. Must seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
7. Must be able to communicate information concerning residents’ conditions effectively.
8. Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace.
