Job summary

Open Arms Assisted Living in Mount Pleasant, WI is seeking a compassionate Resident Assistant to support residents with daily living activities and mobility needs. You will help with toileting, bathing, dressing, meal service, and social activities while promoting dignity and independence.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication with residents, families and staff.
  • Reliable and punctual with attendance.
  • Demonstrates integrity and compassion toward cognitively impaired adults.
  • Good judgment, problem solving and decision making.
  • Able to report condition changes to management promptly.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and capable of lifting up to 50 lb.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living tasks including toileting, bathing, dressing and feeding.
  • Maintain clean resident rooms and common areas.
  • Support recreational and social activities for residents.
  • Provide safe mobility assistance and transfers as needed.
  • Document care and assistance provided during shifts.
  • Follow DHS guidelines for medication administration.

As a Resident Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities by assisting them in various aspects of daily living.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Help residents with daily living, including: toileting, bathing, washing, dressing, shaving, cooking, and serving food
  • Maintain cleanliness of home and resident rooms through assigned housekeeping duties
  • Assist with other tasks such as recreational and social activities for residents
  • Provide physical assistance to residents who have limited mobility by helping them walk or transporting them in wheelchairs
  • Helping residents maintain independence, promoting dignity and physical safety of each resident
  • Perform administrative tasks such as: answering phones, greeting visitors, and complete documentation of care and assistance that transpired during their shift
  • Follow state guidelines for medication administration

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Residents, management, and co-workers, resident family and visitors
  • Reliable and dependable with attendance and punctuality
  • Possesses good character and displays high degree of personal integrity. Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults.
  • Demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to recognize condition changes of a resident and be able to report this immediately to management
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to work every other weekend and rotating holidays
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, assist with resident transfers, and promptly respond to resident and emergency needs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to pass DHS and criminal background check

Prior experience as a caregiver or in an assisted living environment is a plus but NOT required
