Job summary

Ebenezer's Pillars of Hermantown in northern Minnesota seeks a Resident Assistant / Caregiver to provide personal care and health-related services, with on-the-job training for medications. Evening shift with differential, full-time schedule, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

The role includes assisting residents with daily activities, administering or assisting with medications under RN guidance, and supporting social and recreational programs.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year experience in care or similar roles.
• Ability to use technology (computers, handheld devices, cell phones, fax machines).
• If under 18 must be on the MN NA registry.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with personal cares: bathing/showering, foot and fingernail care, shaving, dressing, hearing aid/glasses use, hair care, feeding, toileting, escorts, 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift.
• Provides health-related services under RN direction (blood glucose monitoring, medications administration or assistance, temperature/blood pressure/pulse/respiration).
• Performs home services and laundry per schedule; follows shift cleaning schedule.
• Delivers meal trays and assists with meal service in dining room.
• Helps prepare for and facilitate resident social/recreational activities as requested.
• Observes residents and reports changes in physical or emotional status to staff.
• Notifies staff of changes in appetite, weight, mood; acts as mandated reporter for potential mistreatment.
• Offers observations and input; responds to emergencies in the building.

Pillars of Hermantown is looking for a Resident Assistant / Caregiver. This position is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services to enhance and/or maintain the residents' physical and emotional wellbeing. Role will also be given full on the job training to pass medications.

Schedule

• 48 hours per two week pay period ; Full Time
• Evening shift; shift differential of +$1/hour
• 2:00pm-10:30pm Shift
• Block Schedule:
  • Week 1: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Week 2: Tuesday and Thursday
• Eligible for full benefits package (paid time off, medical, dental, matching retirement, more)

Responsibilities

Assists residents with personal cares including but not limited to:

• Bathing/showering
• Foot and fingernail care
• Shaving
• Dressing
• Assistance with use of hearing aids and/or glasses
• Hair care
• Feeding
• Toileting
• Escorts
• 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift

Provides health-related services as directed:

• Assists with treatments per individualized care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. (includes blood glucose monitoring)
• Administers medication or assists with this under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes insulin injections). Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse
• Performs specified home services:
• Performs laundry service per schedule.
• Follows cleaning schedule for the shift worked.
• Delivers meal trays.
• Assists with meal service in dining room.
• Assists with preparing for and/or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned and as requested.
• Observes tenants/residents and reports status to appropriate staff.
• Notifies appropriate staff of changes in physical and/or emotional conditions such as change in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, change in weight.
• Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any concerns regarding potential mistreatment
• Offers pertinent observations and input.
• Responds appropriately to resident and building emergencies.
