Job summary

Northern Lakes Senior Living in Baxter, MN, is seeking a Resident Assistant to provide personal care and health-related services to residents. The role includes training to pass medications under RN direction and supports daily living activities in a 68-unit community managed by Ebenezer.

Schedule includes casual/on-call, day/evening/overnight shifts. Requires ability to use everyday technology and adherence to care plans with vigilant observation and reporting to staff.

Qualifications

• Tech competency using computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines.
• If under 18 must be MN NA registry and site restrictions prevent passing meds or operating a mechanical lift.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care tasks: bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding.
• Support with medications under RN direction and monitor vital signs as directed.
• Follow care plans, document changes, and report to nursing staff.
• Assist with meal service and activity facilitation; ensure safety and comfort.

Job Overview

Our senior care community hosts Assisted and Memory Care services for a total of 68 units. Managed by Ebenezer, we are proud of our skilled, compassionate, and good-natured team of employees. The Resident Assistant is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services to enhance and/or maintain the senior age residents' physical and emotional well-being. Role is provided with training to pass medications as this is part of their regular duties.

This caregiver schedule includes;

• casual / on call
• day/evening/overnight shift

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with personal cares including but not limited to:
• Bathing/showering
• Foot and fingernail care
• Shaving
• Dressing
• Assistance with use of hearing aids and/or glasses
• Hair care
• Feeding
• Toileting
• Escorts
• 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift
• Provides health-related services as directed: Assists with treatments per individualized care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. (includes blood glucose monitoring)
• Administers medication or assists with this under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes insulin injections). Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse
• Performs specified home services:
• Performs laundry service per schedule.
• Follows cleaning schedule for the shift worked.
• Delivers meal trays.
• Assists with meal service in dining room.
• Assists with preparing for and/or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned and as requested.
• Observes tenants/residents and reports status to appropriate staff.
• Notifies appropriate staff of changes in physical and/or emotional conditions such as change in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, change in weight.
• Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any concerns regarding potential mistreatment
• Offers pertinent observations and input.
• Responds appropriately to resident and building emergencies.

• Ability to use technology in the form of computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines
• If under 18 must be on the MN NA registry and site must be able to manage restrictions that they are not able to pass medications or operate a mechanical lift independently.
