Job summary

Sam Houston State University in Texas is seeking a Student Employee-Residence Life Resident Advisor for Fall 2026-Spring 2027. This role is a College Work Study position with a pay rate of $9/hr and requires availability on Tuesdays 3:30pm–5:00pm and flexible scheduling including weekends.

As a Resident Advisor you will build community, uphold policies, participate in duty rotation, maintain office hours, and serve as a Campus Security Authority.

Qualifications

• Willingness to assist residential students.
• Ability to take leadership role and positively influence residents.
• Proven written and oral communication skills.
• Minimum GPA of 2.0 or above.
• Preferably resided on campus for at least one long semester.
• You must have completed 12 credit hours by time of employment and maintain at least 6 financial aid eligible hours each long semester.

Responsibilities

• Build community within the residence hall(s).
• Hold students accountable for policies and procedures.
• Participate in duty rotation with fellow Resident Advisors.
• Hold office hours and be a role model for residents.
• Assist with RA selection and attend training.
• Attend professional development sessions.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority.
