Job summary

Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities Inc. in Queens, NY, seeks a Recreation Specialist to plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging activities for older adults, promoting health, growth, and social connection.

You will work with staff and partners to maintain schedules, ensure safety, and enable accessible programs, including in-home services and virtual activities for homebound seniors. This full-time role offers benefits and opportunities to create meaningful community impact through wellness

Qualifications

• Must receive/obtain First Aid, CPR, AED training.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean Abstract.

Responsibilities

• Ensure activity sign-in sheets are accurately completed and submitted daily.
• Ensures senior safety during recreational activities.
• Maintains and complies with standards set by Department for the Aging and Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.
• Reports potential unsafe conditions immediately.
• Keeps accurate and up-to-date records in a neat and organized manner.
• Maintains up-to-date activity flyers on bulletin boards and social media.
• Conducts outreach for program services at the center.
• Familiarity with taking pictures/videos for social media platforms.
• Meets all deadlines of the assigned duties.
• Plans and coordinates recreational, social, educational, and health activities for in-home services.
