Job summary

Palms Care Center is seeking a compassionate Skills Director to lead our activities program, promoting residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being. You will design engaging activities, collaborate with rehab staff, and coordinate community events to enhance quality of life.

The role requires a 2-year track record in long-term care, a recreation therapy degree, and strong leadership and organizational abilities, with proficiency in EMRs and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Activities Director in long-term care or healthcare settings.
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
• Strong knowledge of adult development, assessment, and programming principles.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate with residents, families, and staff across disciplines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMRs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive activities program for residents.
• Collaborate with rehabilitation staff to integrate activities into treatment plans.
• Coordinate community events, outings, and celebrations.
• Recruit and train volunteers for activities
• Build relationships with community organizations for programming
• Assess resident engagement and satisfaction; adjust program accordingly
• Maintain records of activities including attendance and evaluations
