Job summary

OPCO Skilled Management seeks an Activities Director to plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive activity program for residents in a long-term care setting in Bedford, Texas.

The role requires Certified Activity Director accreditation and a state-approved training, plus 1 year in a similar role in a healthcare environment and 2 years of experience running social/recreational programs.

Qualifications

• Accreditation as a Certified Activity Director and completion of a state-approved Activity Director training course.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy or related area; must be licensed or registered by the state or nationally.
• 1 year experience as an Activity Director in long-term care.
• 2 years of experience conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, with at least one year full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Develops and delivers activity/recreational programming to promote residents' opportunities for engaging in normal life.
• Completes required assessment sections and participates in Resident Care Plan Meetings.
• Conducts admissions interviews, documents MDS activities, and writes care plans.
• Completes monthly calendars of activities and posts them.
• Identifies resident activity preferences and health issues affecting participation; documents findings.
• Develops individualized care plans based on identified needs and preferences; implements engagement strategies.
• Plans community activities that involve residents, staff, families, and the broader community.
• Obtains physician approval for activities and maintains safety/precautions lists.
• Provides opportunities for group and individual leisure pursuits (arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, educational and service activities).
