Job summary

Avamere Living in Seattle, WA is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and social activities for residents, enhancing well-being and engagement. This full-time role requires scheduling Tue-Sat, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, and reporting to the facility.

You will lead group activities, assist with setup and safety, transport residents as needed, and document participation.

Qualifications

  • CPR/BLS certification must be active during employment.
  • Experience in long-term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute or critical care settings preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records documentation.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience volunteering or working with geriatric populations encouraged.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, flexible, patient, and empathetic when engaging residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing a diverse range of activities, including games, exercise programs, arts and crafts, music sessions, and social events.
  • Create activity schedules and calendars, ensuring a variety of options to cater to different interests and abilities.
  • Prepare activity areas, gather necessary supplies, and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Lead group activities and engage residents in one-on-one interactions.
  • Encourage participation in activities and provide support to residents who may need assistance.
  • Observe residents' responses to activities and report any changes in their needs or behavior to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain records of resident participation in activities, including attendance and feedback.
  • Communicate with other staff members, volunteers, and families to coordinate activities and ensure resident needs are met.
  • Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of activity areas.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
