Qualifications

• Prior experience in a resident activities program in a health care setting preferred.
• Excellent creative and communication skills.
• Ability to work with cognitively, physically or sensory disabled residents.
• Strong interpersonal energy and enthusiasm.
• Experience coordinating volunteers.
• Genuine caring for the elderly and disabled in a nursing facility.
• Comply with Resident's Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and implement a program of activities to meet residents' social, emotional, physical, and other therapeutic needs.
• Initiate and promote activities inside and outside the facility, ensuring safety and wellbeing of each resident.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities accessible to all residents.
• Maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation established by policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of activity programs and participation of residents, identifying progress toward care plan goals.
• Prepare progress notes for medical staff reflecting residents' reactions and progress.
• Assist residents with organizing and maintaining Active Resident Council.
• Attend in-service education programs to meet facility requirements.
