Job summary

Diversicare is seeking an Activity Coordinator Assistant to support our activity program for residents. You will lead group and one-to-one activities, assist in planning events, and help document attendance and progress.

Qualified candidates have experience in long-term care, strong communication, creativity, and the ability to motivate residents in engaging activities. This role is onsite at our Oneonta facility and involves teamwork with the care staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in long term care is required, preferably in a recreational setting.
• Demonstrates strong people skills and clear communication with residents.
• Ability to direct and perform activities and respond to varied resident needs.
• Motivates residents and promotes their well-being through direct activities.
• Interprets feelings and ideas with empathy and understanding.
• Capable of evaluating resident progress and reporting to the coordinator.
• Shows imagination and creativity in activity planning.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Activity Coordinator in implementing and executing an Activity Program for all residents.
• Leads group activities as assigned by the Activity Coordinator.
• Provides one-to-one activities to residents who cannot join groups.
• Aids in planning activities through Resident’s Council and the Coordinator.
• Maintains attendance sheets and supports resident transport to activities.
• Communicates residents' status to the Activity Coordinator.
• May attend interdisciplinary care plan meetings and document in care plans.
• Arranges movies, live entertainment, and group outings.
• Assigns duties to volunteers and supports service standards.
