Job summary

GOEBEL FIXTURE COMPANY is seeking an Part-Time Activity Assistant to plan, organize and direct activities for residents in a nursing facility. You will collaborate with the Activity Coordinator to create engaging programs that meet social and therapeutic needs and maintain monthly calendars.

You will coordinate volunteers, document progress, and assist in resident care planning while ensuring safety, compliance, and respectful engagement with residents and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior completion of a state-approved activity training course or willingness to complete within six months of employment.
• Excellent creative and communication skills.
• Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities.
• Knowledge of how an Activity Department functions in a nursing facility.

Responsibilities

• Develop, organize, and implement a program of activities meeting residents' social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic needs.
• Initiate and promote activities within and outside the facility, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Coordinate and verify assistance provided to residents for activities and events.
• Create a monthly calendar of activities accessible to all residents.
• Maintain activity scheduling standards and documentation per policies and regulations.
• Develop and maintain an active volunteer program; recruit, train, and recognize volunteers.
