Job summary

Pikes Peak Post Acute in Cypress, Texas, seeks an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Director in delivering a creative, responsive activities program designed to meet each resident’s interests and needs. You will assist in planning and conducting activities for individuals and groups, coordinate monthly calendars, arrange transportation, and document progress.

The role requires a high school diploma and preferred one year in long-term care; there are no supervisory duties and compliance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferable one-year experience in a long term care facility.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information to managers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and conducting of individual, small and large group activities.
• Assist in providing good communication between employees at all levels, residents, families and the public.
• Participate in community planning related to facility interests.
• Assist in development of monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
• Assist QA/Assessment Committee in implementing plans of action to correct quality deficiencies.
• Participate in discharge planning and development of activity care plans.
• Arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharge.
• Develop a monthly activity schedule including outings, group activities, and in-room activities.
• Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities and provide reading materials in Braille or audio books as appropriate.
• Assist with assessment documentation and quarterly progress notes.
• Keep Activity Department clean, orderly and secured.
