Job summary

Independence Realty Trust, Inc. is seeking a Resident Account Specialist to manage the accuracy of resident financial records across our Ohio portfolio. This role focuses on rent collection, delinquencies, and posting SODAs, with a strong emphasis on compliance and documentation.

The ideal candidate has 1–2+ years in property management, is proficient in Microsoft 365 and Entrata, and shows strong attention to detail and communication. Ohio residents are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years’ experience in property management preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical problem solving.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Entrata.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collect rents and control delinquencies.
• Serve legal documents and supervise eviction proceedings.
• Attend unlawful detainer and court hearings (virtual).
• Process and post SODAs timely.
• Assist Accounting with month-end discrepancies, reconciliations, and variances.
• Manage resident payment plan options per guidelines.
• Maintain resident account ledgers with complete, accurate documentation.
• Ensure compliance with fair housing, harassment, disability accommodations, and landlord-tenant laws.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

We are in need of a Resident Account Specialist to oversee the overall integrity of resident financial records for our Ohio portfolio of communities.

Responsibilities

• Collect rents and control delinquencies
• Serve legal documents and process/supervise all eviction proceedings.
• Attend unlawful detainer and other court hearings (virtually) on behalf of ownership as required
• Process and post all SODAs timely
• Assist Accounting with Account Month End discrepancies, reconciliations, and variances as needed
• Manage resident payment plan options per company operational guidelines
• Responsible for assigned community portfolio resident account ledge activities, ensuring documentation is kept complete, accurate, up to date and compliant
• Maintain knowledge of all relevant laws and agency regulations, including but not limited to fair housing, harassment, disability accommodations, and landlord-tenant relationships to ensure 100% compliance
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• 1-2+ years’ experience in property management preferred
• Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus
• Able to work independently, demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, prioritizes and plans work assignments, organized and uses time efficiently to meet deadlines
• Work Hours: 40 hours per week, as scheduled, Monday through Friday. Weekly schedule may change as required. May be necessary to work holidays
• Experience with property management software preferred - Entrata
