Job Description

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Senior Student Support Specialist to serve as the Residency Coordinator for its ACGME-accredited Neurology Residency Program. This position is a key member of the department's Education Team and works closely with the Residency Program Director to provide comprehensive administrative and operational support for a four-year residency program consisting of six residents per class year.

The Senior Student Support Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the success of the residency program by supporting recruitment, onboarding, accreditation activities, educational programming, and resident engagement. This position also provides support for the department's clerkship and fellowship programs while serving as a primary point of contact for residents, faculty, learners, and institutional stakeholders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and administer the day-to-day operations of the Neurology Residency Program in accordance with ACGME, institutional, and departmental requirements.
  • Partner with the Residency Program Director to support program planning, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate residency recruitment activities, including application review processes, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and recruitment events.
  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes for residents, ensuring completion of required documentation, training, and institutional requirements.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of resident didactic sessions, conferences, and educational activities.
  • Manage resident and program evaluation processes, maintaining accurate records and supporting reporting requirements for accreditation and program assessment.
  • Monitor program compliance with accreditation standards and assist with preparation of required reports, surveys, and site‑visit documentation.
  • Maintain residency program records, databases, policies, procedures, and educational documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison between residents, faculty, program leadership, Graduate Medical Education (GME), and institutional partners.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for Neurology clerkship and fellowship programs as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings, schedules, communications, and special projects related to educational programs.
  • Support resident wellness, engagement, and professional development initiatives.
  • Assist with departmental education events and perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in program coordination, academic administration, student support services, graduate medical education, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty, learners, staff, and institutional partners.
  • Experience coordinating educational programs, events, or accreditation‑related activities preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn specialized educational and residency management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, and commitment to customer service.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $19.25 - $26.44 hourly
Grade: GGS - 008
