Job summary

University of Wisconsin is seeking a Facilities Technician II for the Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center. The role focuses on a variety of maintenance tasks, including basic building repairs and equipment repairs, with on-the-job training and a dynamic work environment.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on mechanical skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work independently to inspect, repair, and maintain facility systems daily.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of relative experience.
• Ability to independently perform fitness equipment repair or mechanical/electrical diagnostics and repair.
• Independently perform skilled repair and maintenance tasks such as light carpentry, painting, fixture and furniture installation, and general facilities upkeep.
• Independently troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
• Independently receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities.
• Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.
• Independently performs basic and routine computer related tasks daily.
• Properly troubleshoot equipment and facility issues without oversight.

Responsibilities

• Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities under general supervision.
• Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
• Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
• Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
• Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.
