Job summary

The University of Florida in Gainesville is seeking a Residence Hall Director to oversee management of assigned residence halls on Main Campus. You will lead daily operations, staff supervision, and educational programming to foster student success and a safe living environment.

Responsibilities include crisis management, collaboration with internal units, and development of living-learning initiatives within halls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
• Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, communications, or other related field.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily workflow and admin tasks for hall operations, including access control, maintenance, service requests, inspections, and student concerns.
• Recruit, train, supervise Resident Assistants/Graduate Assistants; provide ongoing education programming for student staff.
• Schedule on-call staff for Resident Assistants.
• Collaborate with internal units for hall opening/closing and intersession.
• Assist with room reassignments, transfers, and occupancy verification.
• Conduct facility inspections to ensure clean, safe spaces and maintain office operations.
• Enforce policies for Residence Halls; ensure staff follow guidelines.
• Implement crisis management and building emergency procedures.
• Educate residents on campus emergency procedures.
• Maintain communication with residents and build rapport.
• Collaborate with desk staff for access, mail, and common spaces.
• Serve as primary contact for residents and families; promote belonging and resource use.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority.
• Develop and implement educational programming within assigned halls; align events with department mission.
