Job summary

Livingstone College seeks an Area Coordinator for Residence Life to manage seven residential homes and supervise Resident Assistants. The role focuses on creating a safe, learning-centered living environment and coordinating housing operations with the Residence Life team.

You will foster student success, maintain housing standards, and collaborate with campus partners. Evening/weekend/on-call duties are required, with strong leadership and crisis management skills expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in student affairs, residence life, housing, counseling, education, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor student leaders.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call hours as necessary.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of seven residential homes affiliated with Livingstone College.
• Ensure that all residential homes are safe, clean, secure, and conducive to student learning and development.
• Conduct regular inspections of the homes to ensure compliance with health, safety, and housing regulations.
• Monitor occupancy, room assignments, and housing concerns in coordination with the Office of Residence Life.
• Assist with housing openings, closings, check-ins, check-outs, and room condition assessments.
• Ensure residents adhere to house rules and policies; address conduct issues and document incidents.
• Directly supervise the Resident Assistants and provide leadership and evaluation.
• Assist in recruitment, selection, and training of Resident Assistants and other student leaders.
• Develop and implement educational, social, cultural, wellness, and leadership programs for residents.
• Respond to emergencies and serve in on-call rotations; coordinate with campus partners.
• Maintain records, occupancy data, and incident documentation; support assessments and initiatives.
