Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years fire/EMS experience.
  • NM Class E license or obtain within 6 months.
  • EMR or higher EMS license valid in NM.
  • FIRE 1 & 2, Haz Ops, Extrication, and ICS/CEVO certifications.
  • Must pass drug screen and arduous physical tests.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies; provide fire suppression, EMS, prevention, and training.
  • Drive fire apparatus, operate pumps, lay hose, and extinguish fires.
  • Perform vehicle extrication and use hydraulic tools.
  • Conduct community presentations and station/equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain readiness of equipment; participate in drills and inspections.
  • Abide by NM laws and San Juan County Fire & Rescue policies; perform other duties.

Education

High School Diploma or GED
2+ years fire/EMS experience
NM Class E driver's license or ability to obtain within 6 months
Age 18 by August 1
NM EMS licensed EMR or higher
Firefighter 1 & 2 certification
Haz Ops certification
Vehicle Extrication certification
ICS 100/200/700/800
S130/190 certification
Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO)
Pre-employment drug screen and fitness tests
