Job description

Job Summary:

The Nirschl Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison focuses on understanding Alzheimer's disease and related dementias using cutting-edge computational and experimental techniques. We seek a highly organized and motivated Laboratory Manager to support essential wet laboratory operations and contribute to the success of the lab's multidisciplinary research mission.

The Laboratory Manager will lead daily laboratory operations, conduct critical molecular biology experiments, manage laboratory supplies and reagent procurement, and help train and mentor graduate students and new lab members in wet lab techniques. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing standard protocols, maintaining research quality, and supporting scientific productivity in a highly collaborative environment.

Education:

Required
Master's Degree
In Cell and/or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Neuroscience or a related biological science field by start date.

Qualifications:

Required:
- At least 2 years of post-baccalaureate research experience in a biomedical wet laboratory environment.
- Proficiency with standard cell and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience with laboratory management tasks such as ordering supplies, managing reagent inventories, and maintaining laboratory records.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to train others.

Preferred:
- Experience with human or mouse tissue and histologic techniques.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students.
- Familiarity with university purchase ordering systems or similar academic research environments.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $58,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
