Job description

The SAFE STEPS study is seeking to hire per diem (hourly) therapists to deliver a suicide prevention program to youth and their families following visits to the emergency department. This initiative is part of a large clinical trial funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.

The hours are flexible, and the intervention is provided remotely through telehealth. We are looking for therapists with a master's degree or higher (licensed or unlicensed) who can start immediately under the guidance of Drs. Brandon Gaudiano and Ivan Miller.

Status: Hourly (per diem; minimum 8-10 hours per week; pay based on experience)

Hours: Daytime (Monday through Friday) and/or some Weekend/Evening Hours.

Job Description:

Brown University researchers are seeking to hire research therapists for a grant-funded project testing a suicide prevention program for youths and their families. Responsibilities include delivering research-based interventions, assessing suicide risk, providing crisis intervention, reviewing electronic medical records, writing clinical notes, utilizing electronic databases, preparing patient reports, and providing outreach and care coordination to patients (adolescents and young adults) with psychiatric disorders and their families. Additional duties include working with a multidisciplinary team conducting research in a community setting.

Required Education:

At least a master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field is required (license helpful but not required). Bilingual abilities (Spanish speaking) are a plus. Experience with providing suicide risk assessment and crisis intervention, cognitive behavioral interventions, and/or working with youth/family with psychiatric disorders is desirable.
