POSITION DETAILS

A Research Technologist position is available in the Fox Lab, Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA. The role involves pre-clinical research on opioid use and stress disorders.

Responsibilities include mouse husbandry, colony management, lab supplies, experiments, and data recording. Extensive mouse handling and tissue collection are required; animal handling experience is necessary.

The candidate should be comfortable with rodents, familiar with techniques like PCR, gel electrophoresis, and eager to learn new methods.

The candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, able to follow instructions, and work independently.

The role involves collaboration with graduate students and postdocs on studies related to substance misuse, social stress, behavior, and brain circuits.

Research Technologist - Animal Sciences

• Design, develop, and conduct research; assist in methodology and project planning.
• Perform complex procedures, experiments, analyses; collect and analyze biological samples.
• Identify microorganisms, conduct specialized tests.
• Follow protocols, verify data, interpret results, and report findings.
• Contribute to manuscripts, reports, and presentations.
• Manage projects, coordinate activities, and monitor expenditures.
• Act as liaison, coordinate research activities, and participate in meetings.
• Create/revise SOPs, policies, and conduct training.
• Follow regulatory guidelines and supervise staff as needed.

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years relevant experience or equivalent; no certifications required.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $38,300 - $55,500. Full-time employees enjoy comprehensive benefits, including health coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, and a 75% tuition discount.
