Department: Department of Population Health and Pathobiology

About the Department: The mission of the Department of Population Health and Pathobiology is to recruit, train, inspire, and graduate Doctors of Veterinary Medicine of exemplary knowledge, skill, and character. The department’s faculty will advance veterinary medical science through innovative research, mentoring, clinical services, and engagement activities.

Research Focus: Dr. Jeong lab’s research focuses on using 3D organoid models of animal cancers and combining bioinformatics and histopathology to study mechanisms of oncogenesis and metastasis.

Primary Duties:

• Generation and maintenance of cancer cell lines from animal patients
• Long-term storage and organization of cell lines
• Record keeping of experimental protocols and daily activities in lab notebooks
• Assist with analyzing phenotypes of cell lines
• Organize and order lab consumables
• Manage safety training certificates for lab members
• Participate in weekly research meetings with PI and other lab members

Other Required Qualifications:

• Previous research experience
• DNA/RNA extraction skills
• Written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work semi-independently and support other lab members

Preferred Qualifications: Research experience in a lab setting

Required License or Certification: Valid NC Driver's License required
