Job summary

Texas A&M University Health Science Center seeks a Technician I to support laboratory experiments and data collection. The role conducts basic procedures, records observations, and assists in planning technical operations within a neuroscience-focused environment.

Minimum education includes a high school diploma and two years of lab experience; preferred qualifications cover biology or neuroscience studies and experience with immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and rodent behavior analyses.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of laboratory experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s in Biology, Neuroscience or related field.
  • Experience in immunohistochemistry, microscopy, behavioral analysis in mice; electrophysiology technique and stereotaxic surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in conducting experiments and technical procedures. Performs some laboratory research activities.
  • Reviews literature relating to possible procedures and experiments. Modifies procedures to suit the research need.
  • Assists with planning and may supervise technical operations.
  • Assists personnel involved in a series of controlled environment or analysis experiments.
  • Assists in making chemical and physical analyses which, although they follow standard procedures and tests, may require the exercise of some ingenuity and improvisation.
