Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania in Kennett Square, PA, is seeking a Research Technician B/C to support PK/PD studies in the Penn Vet Equine Pharmacology Laboratory, including exercising horses and assisting with herd health.

Responsibilities include IV catheterization, sample collection, data entry, routine herd maintenance, exercising horses on treadmill and equine exerciser, data compilation, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Degree and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with PK/PD studies by performing IV catheterization, blood and urine sample collection, tube labeling, and data entry.
• Assist with routine maintenance of the equine research herd including minor wound and veterinary care as directed, vaccinations, deworming, hoof care, dental care and animal restraint as needed. Cleaning stalls if needed.
• Assist with Exercising horses on a high speed equine treadmill
• Independently exercise horses on an Equine Exerciser
• Assist with data compilation and verification for research studies
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
