Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a contract-to-hire position within a research-focused team.

You will conduct daily health checks, monitor anesthesia, assist veterinarians, and support animal care and data collection. Certification (CVT/LVT/RVT) is a plus; independence and clear communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical and required for interactions with researchers and admin tasks.
• Must demonstrate a commitment to animal welfare and the ability to work independently.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring, drug dose calculations, and surgical procedures is essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily health checks, administer medications, perform and monitor anesthesia, and assist veterinarians.
• Work independently and with the team to manage animal colonies, maintain surgical suites, and support research personnel
• Assist with treatments, data collection, necropsies, and compliance documentation.
