Job Summary

The Falcone Lab group in the Biological Sciences department is accepting applications for a Research Technician for candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Biology or a related field. This project is aimed at investigating the roles of varicose projection astrocytes in Alzheimer's disease, at the molecular, cellular, and functional level. The goal is to better understand how this astrocyte subtype contributes to disease pathology, and to identify new avenues for therapeutic intervention. The successful candidate will receive raining, regular mentorship, and support for professional development.

Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.
  • Two years of research experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in biology, Neuroscience or any related field.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, particularly neural stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and iPSC-derived neurons and astrocytes.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and communication skills,
  • Ability to work collaboratively and perform experiments independently.
  • Willingness to learn new methods.
Salary and Benefits

$55,000 annually and a contract offers annual leave, holidays, sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
