Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston is seeking a Research Technician to support scientists in cancer biology research and translational studies. The role involves assisting in the setup, operation, and maintenance of laboratory instruments, monitoring experiments, and calculating and recording results.

The successful candidate will work closely with team scientists, contribute to data analysis and reporting, and participate in grant applications and manuscript preparation as required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of information and techniques related to biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.
• Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Computational skills (R and/or Python) are a plus.

Responsabilités

• Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
• Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas; may order supplies and negotiate with vendors.
• Conduct standardized biological, microbiological or biochemical tests and laboratory analyses; collect information and samples.
• Isolate, identify and prepare specimens for examination.
• Analyze data and interpret results; write reports, summaries, and possibly co-author publications.
• Participate in grant applications and manuscript preparation as required.
• Maintain detailed notebooks of all work activities.
• Monitor laboratory work for EH&S compliance and SOP adherence specific to each lab.
• Stay current with relevant literature and research publications.
• May develop, modify or improve standard operating procedures.
• Use computers or robotics to perform duties; may design and execute advanced experiments.
• May examine animals and specimens to detect disease or problems; monitor budgets.
