Job summary

The University of Michigan's SHARED Experiences Lab seeks a Research Technician Associate to assist with NIH-funded studies on dementia caregiving. You will work under the Clinical Research Coordinator and collaborate with faculty to collect data, administer assessments, and help manage study materials.

This full-time onsite role requires attention to detail, reliable transportation to Michigan sites, and flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and score standardized neuropsychological tests.

Job description

Job Summary

To assist with research activities within the Support, Health, and Resilient Engagement in Daily Life (SHARED) Experiences Lab directed by Dr. Courtney Polenick in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. Key projects funded by the National Institute on Aging focus on family caregivers and older adults living with Alzheimer?s disease and related dementias. The overall goal of this research program is to identify potentially modifiable daily experiences (e.g., daily stress and sleep patterns) within care dyads (i.e., family caregivers and the people they support) that influence health and well-being over time.

Responsibilities*

With guidance from faculty and research personnel, the Research Technician Associate will perform a variety of tasks under the direction of the Clinical Research Coordinator.

  • The Research Technician Associate will administer and score standardized neuropsychological tests; complete participant check-in calls; transcribe recorded interview data; and perform literature searches.
  • The Research Technician Associate will assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, conference presentations, and grant proposals.
  • There will be opportunities to collaborate on papers, posters, and presentations for scientific meetings.
  • The Research Technician Associate will work independently and collaboratively with other team members to fulfill the goals of the projects.
  • Additional responsibilities include:
  • Supporting coordination and administration of protocol visits under the guidance of the Clinical Research Coordinator, tracking research-related supplies, detailed record-keeping, filing, preparing study mailings and newsletters, the sending and receiving of study equipment, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of a high school diploma, associate degree, or equivalent, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • The successful candidate should have strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and the willingness to develop additional skills related to data entry and survey administration tools (e.g., REDCap) are required. The successful candidate must be willing to travel, occasionally, within the state of Michigan and have reliable transportation.
  • The ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules as needed (including some evenings and weekends) is required.
Desired Qualifications*
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Academic knowledge of a health science discipline, such as public health, psychology, social work, or related behavioral sciences is highly desired.
  • Previous clinical or research experience, particularly with adult and/or geriatric populations and minoritized populations, is highly desired but not required.

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position; 40 hours/week Monday through Friday, core hours are 9 AM to 5 PM but could potentially change based on operational needs and required meetings.

Work Locations

Our offices are located within the Rachel Upjohn Building at the University of Michigan. Work will be primarily onsite. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.

Additional Information
