Dr. Vladi Karniychuk’s laboratory at the Department of Veterinary Biosciences is seeking a motivated and dedicated Research Technician 2 to conduct scientific research in virology.
The work includes animal work, cell culture, work with viruses, and molecular techniques at Biosafety Level 2 and 3 laboratory containment. The candidate will be expected to conduct research, provide technical assistance to the PI, and other lab members.
The technician will perform miscellaneous lab and office duties as assigned by the PI, including, but not limited to, ordering supplies, waste disposal, and helping organize and coordinate meetings and projects.
The position requires the ability and willingness to obtain federal clearance for work with Select Agents and will be based at the OSU Wooster campus. Alternatively, frequent travel between the Columbus and Wooster campuses is expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a biological sciences is required. Experience in a research laboratory is required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Master's preferred. Experience in a virology laboratory preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
