Job Description - Research Technician (25000737)
SUMMARY:
The ASH Lab (theashlab.org) on the Neurobiology of Feeding and Motivation is seeking a full-time research technician.
The role will contribute to the lab’s research goals, including identifying the underlying neural circuits coordinating food-related decision making. The ASH Lab uses a variety of cellular, molecular, behavioral, and open-source neuroscience approaches in rodent models with the goal of identifying the neural underpinnings of diseases associated with dysregulated feeding, including eating disorders and overconsumption. The ASH Lab is a teaching lab, and professional development will be woven in with job responsibilities and professional interests.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Six months of lab experience is required (can include any STEM lab environment: biology, computation/engineering, neuroscience, psychology, physiology, etc). Additional experience in engineering, coding techniques, rodent handling and colony management, rodent behavior, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, computational, and coding techniques is preferred but not required. We highly encourage applicants with at least two of these skills to apply.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
B.S or B.A. in any STEM-related field (including but not limited to biology, computation/engineering, neuroscience, psychology, physiology) and six months of experience in a STEM-related lab (includes but is not limited to: biology, psychology, neuroscience, engineering, computer science/computational lab, physiology, and the biomedical sciences) that is separate from coursework. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
