Responsibilities

• Perform standard laboratory procedures such as maintaining cell cultures using sterile techniques, radioisotope labeling, preparing slides with staining techniques, and conducting assays for proteins, RNA, DNA, or other cellular components.
• Care for laboratory animals, perform standardized experimental protocols, prepare animals for surgery, administer drug treatments, and provide post-surgical care.
• Prepare laboratory equipment for use.
• Maintain records of laboratory analyses and enter data into databases.
• Supervise and monitor the work of student assistants.
• Prepare graphs, charts, and tables from experimental results for presentations and publications.

Qualifications

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
