Job Description

Due to ongoing research and upcoming grant initiatives in our Neuroscience Program within the Department of Neurosurgery, and the expanding need for electrophysiological methodologies to study neurodevelopmental disorders, gait analysis, and traumatic brain injury, a dedicated Research Technician is needed. The primary responsibilities include supporting research in both preclinical mouse models and human participants, maintaining animal colonies, conducting cellular and molecular studies, tissue collection, sectioning (cryostat, vibratome), and immunohistochemistry.

The technician will assist research staff by conducting experiments, collecting data and samples, maintaining records, performing literature searches, analyzing data, and preparing reports.

Duties:
  • Perform research and laboratory analysis, including measuring compounds, isolating specimens, and collecting research data.
  • Assist in clinical research projects by collecting data from patients and participating in studies.
  • Gather various data forms related to research projects, such as database information and consent forms.
  • Interpret and analyze data, discuss findings with the principal investigator, and prepare progress reports.
  • Maintain detailed logs of research activities.
  • Conduct literature searches and data analyses, interpret results, and present findings to the principal investigator.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the research functions.
Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, or a related health field. Alternatively, 48 months of equivalent experience will be accepted.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures.
  • Proficiency with computers, data software, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and data analysis abilities.

Certifications: None required.

Working Conditions:

  • Standing for long periods, manual dexterity, reaching, bending, walking.
  • Laboratory environment with potential exposure to chemicals and biohazards.
