Job summary

Georgia Tech is seeking a temporary Full-Time engineering position to support research systems and equipment within an academic unit. The role involves working with management and staff to address mechanical and electrical needs and ensure project execution from planning to commissioning.

The ideal candidate has hands-on troubleshooting experience with mechanical and fluid systems, familiarity with CAD tools like Rhino or AutoCAD, and experience creating BOMs, SOPs, and scopes of work.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with mechanical and fluid systems (pumps, valves, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, various sensor types).
  • Familiarity with material specification best practices; experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Working knowledge of different power systems, including low-voltage control systems.
  • Familiarity with proper sensor specification and installation.
  • Experience with Rhino or AutoCAD (or similar CAD software).
  • Experience using both hand tools and power tools for mechanical/electrical/maintenance work.
  • Experience with Gantt charts and project management tools.
  • Experience working with mechanical and electrical contractors.
  • Experience with creating scope of work and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering services in support of systems and equipment associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit or laboratory. Duties determined by assignment and unit needs.
  • Interact with unit management and staff on a regular basis to advise and counsel.
