Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Haque Lab seeks a Research Specialist II to support the SCI Infrastructure Core Special Initiative. You will manage data collection for complex spinal cord injury studies, oversee animal care with IACUC regulatory processes, and help organize protocols and lab operations.

You will assist in grant preparation, manuscript editing, and progress reporting while maintaining inventory and safety standards in a dynamic research environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural, life or health care science and one year work experience related to the assigned research area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with experimental data collections involving spinal cord injury procedures and behavioral data collection.
• Daily animal care to ensure IACUC compliance, working with DLAR and VA veterinary staff.
• Organize data storage and documentation for IACUC, IBC, and IRB protocols; maintain communication with oversight committees.
• Prepare grants, presentations, and manuscripts; edit figures and progress reports; manage lab supply inventory.
• On call for lab emergencies on weekends/after hours; maintain chemical, animal, and controlled substance inventories.
• Review procedures to ensure OSHA/IACUC compliance for animal/human tissue use and chemical safety.
• Procure and prepare animals for experiments; assist in design of experimental research.
• Other duties as assigned.
