Job Description Summary

Plans and conducts basic experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tools, documentation, and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables.

Job Responsibilities

The Research Specialist A will help design, perform, and analyze experiments in a computational neuroscience lab. The role will be responsible for maintenance and breeding of the lab's mouse colony and performing in vivo neurophysiology experiments as well as assisting with the performance of stereotaxic brain surgeries in rodents. The Research Specialist A will assist with behavioral experiments, neurophysiological recordings, and behavioral experiments. Duties include building a behavioral apparatus and troubleshooting computer control. Additional responsibilities include writing computer code for the analysis of behavior and neurophysiological recordings. Recording includes local field potential and action potentials as well as imaging data acquired using two-photon microscopy.

This position is contingent upon grant funding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science preferably in biomedical engineering and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Proficient with computer programming in Matlab, Python, and experience building computer interfaces for interacting with physical devices such as Arduinos and other related microcontrollers is preferred.

Pay Range

$36,368.00 - $50,000.00 Annual Rate
