Avalanche seeks a Research Software Engineer to build software and data infrastructure for scientific data collection, processing, and communication. They lead the formation of code-based packages for standardized analysis under science and engineering guidance.

You will translate methods into reusable Python modules, work with diagnostic experts, and establish standards for testing, documentation, packaging, and release management while collaborating on effective data visualizations.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in computer science, physics, or related discipline.
• Experience building reusable Python packages.
• Ability to communicate with scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standards for data-processing toolboxes.
• Translate analysis methods into reusable Python modules.
• Collaborate with diagnostic experts to build software for data processing.
• Establish and maintain code review, testing, and release standards.
• Review analysis code for correctness and maintainability.
• Incorporate scientists' feedback into shared tools.
• Create clear scientific data visualizations.
• Help transition exploratory scripts to standardized software.
