Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of NIST 800-171 and 800-53 and related standards.
• Ability to interpret evolving regulatory frameworks and apply them to research settings.
• Clear written and verbal communication for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
• Familiarity with data security regulations (HIPAA, FERPA).

Responsibilities

• Assesses cybersecurity posture of labs and PI environments against federal standards.
• Guides data security requirements and storage/handling needs with research teams.
• Develops SOPs and controls for data security compliance across contexts.
• Monitors regulatory developments and contributes to compliance docs and certification.
• Collaborates with campus IT and research groups to address compliance questions.
