Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist to join our User Modeling and Personalization Research Team in Santa Monica.

You will lead research projects, build scalable prototypes, and publish findings at top conferences while partnering with engineering to deploy tech to millions of Snapchatters. You should have a PhD or equivalent experience in CS/ML, strong deep learning, information retrieval and language modeling expertise, and a pragmatic hands-on approach to turn research into product

Qualifications

• PhD in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong familiarity with PyTorch and distributed multi-node multi-GPU training.
• Experience applying language models to generative search, ranking, or personalization.
• Track record of publications in top ML/IR venues (first-author preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead research projects in user modeling and personalization, including generative modeling, recommender systems, information retrieval, and efficiency.
• Build scalable research prototypes and evaluate in large-scale ML scenarios.
• Share expertise with teammates and interns.
• Publish findings at top conferences.
• Partner with engineering teams to deploy technology to millions of Snapchatters.
