Snap Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist for the User Modeling and Personalization Research Team in Bellevue, WA.

You will formulate research agendas across generative modeling, recommendation systems, information retrieval and efficiency, and translate research into impactful, real‑world ML applications used by millions of Snapchatters. You will build scalable prototypes, mentor interns and junior researchers, and publish your findings at top conferences.

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science, machine learning, language technologies or related field.
• 5+ years of industry or post‑doctoral experience.
• Publications in top ML/IR/LN venues (e.g., ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, RecSys, SIGIR, WSDM, ACL).
• Experience with distributed (multi‑node, multi‑GPU) ML training and inference.
• Experience applying language models to generative search, ranking or personalization.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and derive a research agenda in user modeling and personalization domains including generative modeling, recommender systems, IR and efficiency.
• Partner with engineering teams to translate research into business impact for real‑world ML applications used by millions of Snapchatters.
• Build scalable research prototypes and evaluate them in large‑scale ML scenarios.
• Share your expertise with teammates and interns.
• Publish findings at top conferences.
