Job summary

Melian in New York City is seeking a research‑minded ML engineer to lead practical experiments and advance security‑focused AI initiatives. You will define and run your own research agenda, collaborate across teams, and translate ideas into tangible tooling.

We value hands-on experience training, fine‑tuning or evaluating ML models, strong Python engineering, and a collaborative communication style. A PhD or equivalent record is highly regarded, with security background a plus.

Qualifications

• PhD in machine learning, CS or related field, or equivalent research record.
• Experience defining and running your own research agenda.
• Strong software engineering, especially in Python.
• Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning or evaluating ML models.
• Research taste: design clear experiments and learn quickly from results.
• Ownership, clear communication, and a collaborative approach.
• Security background is a plus, not a requirement.
