Job summary

Integrated DNA Technologies in Boulder, CO is seeking a Research Scientist III to lead new NGS assay development and provide on-market product support. The role is on-site and reports to the Staff Scientist within the Assay Development team.

Qualifications include a Master’s or PhD in life sciences with 3+ years of NGS experience, wet-lab nucleic acid prep and dry-lab data analysis. Familiarity with Illumina sequencing is preferred.

The Research Scientist III is responsible for new NGS assay product development and on market product support. General duties include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing and interpreting results, followed by communicating those results to both internal and external groups.

This position reports to the Staff Scientist and is part of the Assay Development team located in Boulder, CO and will be an on-site role.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Develop new products using a combination of wet-lab and dry-lab skillsets
• Plan and conduct experiments, perform data analysis, and interpret results with minimal oversight
• Brainstorm creative solutions to solve outstanding problems and improve existing technologies
• Support on market Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) products as a subject matter expert
• Present experimental demonstrations of products at scientific conferences

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• M.Sc. in a life sciences field or related discipline and 3+ years experience with NGS, or Ph.D. in a life sciences or related discipline with some NGS experience.
• Experience in wet-lab work preparing nucleic acids for NGS, and experience in dry-lab programming for NGS data analysis
• Foundational knowledge of human genetics and cancer biology
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and efficiently summarize complex scientific topics
• Familiarity with Illumina sequencing technology

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

• Ability to occasionally lift, move or carry equipment up to 10lb
• Ability to frequently work in a laboratory environment for extended periods
• Ability to travel to other IDT sites or scientific conferences (

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Python programming, machine learning methods, and NextFlow.
• Product development for the analysis of cancer genetics, developing gene expression phenotype classifiers for RNA-seq or NGS methods for methylation detection
• Loading and troubleshooting Illumina sequencers

The annual salary range OR the hourly range for this role is $85,000-$105,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
